Home Building Inspiration Tips for Dad

What Do Dad’s Want in Home Building

In honor of Father’s Day, we wanted to look at spaces that provide inspiration for Dad in custom home building; popular spaces where he can showcase his talents, connect with family, or get away from life’s chaos to get some work done or simply relax. Nor-Son Custom Builders has been building for Dads from Lake Minnetonka to the Brainerd Lakes Area since 1978.

Hotshot Grilling

If there is one thing that speaks summer, its dad manning the grill and there are endless possibilities for creating a space for dad to showcase his love of grilling. A covered screened porch is a great place for grilling, especially to extend your grilling season well beyond the summer months. These outdoor kitchens can have all the equipment dad needs to produce a large spread for family and friends while entertaining, even a wood-fired pizza oven is an option to mix up the menu. Free-standing custom stone grill stations are perfect to house a green egg or custom cabinetry gives you a more modern look.

Recreation Zone

Indoor sport courts are nothing new in custom home building, especially in Minnesota. Dads enjoy connecting with the kids during the winter months for basketball, volleyball, rock climbing, or whatever your favorite activity may be. Sweat it out in a steam shower or sauna to complete the workout.

Home Office

While there might be a new culture in home building as a result of working from home, Dad still wants his own space. While Mom likes to have an office in various spaces throughout the home…the laundry room, pantry, or mudroom…Dad likes to stay away from the hustle and bustle of home activity. A separate office that is quiet with masculine details, rich color and bold cabinetry.
