A Little Snow Doesn’t Stop Us.
We’ve all seen the headlines, “Overnight Snow Puts this Winter into Top 3 Snowiest on Record”, “Minnesota Facing ‘Extreme’ Snowstorm Disrupting Travel”, “Another Winter Snowstorm Takes Aim at Minnesota”. This winter has tested our limits, but we’re at the end of the tunnel and it seems as though that record-breaking winter is in the rear-view mirror. That being said, the long winter has made for a late spring. It’s unfortunate for our gardens and precious cabin time, yes, but it doesn’t have to be unfortunate for your new home. We at Nor-Son Custom Builders stay on schedule, regardless of the weather, because we are dedicated to providing you with the home of your dreams. On time.
No matter the time of year, the type of weather, or the size of project, we are dedicated to breaking ground on your dream home when it’s right for you and your schedule. For example, our team broke ground on a project mid-February to ensure the project stayed on schedule during the busy Spring season. The team knew that in order to stay ahead they had to pour the foundation before the impending road restrictions went into effect. As the restriction date neared, a 20-inch snowstorm swept through the area delaying the schedule by over a week. The team quickly came up with a game plan to get the foundation in on time with the help of our valued subcontractor partners. Between 10-20 men worked sunup to sundown and over the weekend to get the foundation poured, which they accomplished just in time! Determination, teamwork, and a strive for client satisfaction motivated our team to go above and beyond to get the job done.
The photos below show the crew finishing up the foundation the day before road restrictions took affect.
As of April 25th, we have made great progress and are framing this spectacular new home. It takes tremendous organization, planning, and team effort to reach important milestones, and we at Nor-Son Custom Builders take pride in making that a priority.
The unwavering endurance our crew has displayed throughout this record-breaking snowy winter cannot go unrecognized! We can’t even begin to tell you how much snow removal they had to do on their jobsites, but we’re sure you have a pretty good idea. Thankfully, the snow is now (almost) gone and with Spring finally here and Summer on everyone’s minds, we’re proud to showcase a few new projects that were beautifully designed to our clients’ wishes.
This legacy property pictured below is intended to be in the family for generations. Over the winter months Nor-Son has been building a guest house and garage on the property that will be finished in time to be enjoyed over the Memorial Holiday. Once the homeowners move out of their existing cabin, demolition will begin for the start of the new main house! This modern design has an “up north” flair with wood siding elements mixed with cement board and stone. The flat roof portion above the screened porch has an upper deck with a magnificent view of the lake. An outdoor kitchen, patio, and swim-spa on the lake side were all must-haves for this client and we’re pleased to help bring their wishes to life.
Another multi-phased project we’ve been working on over the winter is an extensive renovation of a rambler home. The entire center section of the house was demolished to incorporate a modern sloped roof design. The main and lower levels were completely renovated and tied into the existing wings, creating a cohesive flow that makes the new renovation feel like it has been a part of the house since the beginning. As we wrap up this project, the next one begins, a two-bedroom guest house with six-stall garage! See the rendering vs. progress photo of this project below.
There’s a reason our motto is No One Builds Like Nor-Son. Happy clients, wonderful employees, and a common goal to build the best propels us forward in the world of luxury custom home building.
